Account Requirements

To fully utilize Tiblio's trading features, your brokerage account must meet specific requirements:

Options Approval

Your account needs approval to trade:

  • Cash-secured put contracts
  • Covered call contracts
  • Vertical spreads

Most brokers classify this as Level 2 options approval. Contact your broker directly to ensure you have the appropriate options trading permissions.

Account Types

Tiblio works with both cash and margin accounts. For TradeStation specifically, you'll need either a margin or cash equities account (futures and crypto accounts are not supported).

Real-Time Options Data

For optimal performance with the Option Bot and screeners, ensure your account has access to real-time options market data through your broker.

Connecting Your Broker

OAuth Authorization Process

All broker connections use secure OAuth 2.0 authorization, ensuring your login credentials are never shared with Tiblio. The connection process follows these steps:

  1. Click the "Connect" button for your chosen broker
  2. You'll be redirected to your broker's secure login page
  3. Log in using your normal brokerage credentials
  4. Review and approve the permissions Tiblio is requesting
  5. You'll be redirected back to Tiblio with your account connected

Required Permissions

When connecting your broker, Tiblio requests permission to:

  • Read account information - View account balances, positions, and order history
  • Place trades - Submit buy and sell orders on your behalf
  • Access market data - Retrieve real-time quotes and option chain information
  • Manage orders - Cancel or modify existing orders

Managing Connected Accounts

Account Status Indicators

The Brokers dashboard displays the current status of each connected account:

  • Connected - Account is active and ready for trading
  • Error - Connection issue requires attention (click reconnect)
  • Not Connected - Account needs to be linked

Re-authorization

Brokers may require periodic re-authorization for security purposes. If you see an error indicator, click the "Reconnect" button to refresh your authorization. You'll receive email notifications when re-authorization is needed.

Multiple Accounts

If you have multiple accounts with the same broker (such as individual and IRA accounts), Tiblio will automatically detect and connect all eligible accounts during the authorization process.

Security and Privacy

Data Encryption

All authentication tokens and sensitive data are encrypted using industry-standard encryption before storage. Tiblio never stores your brokerage login credentials.

API-Only Access

Tiblio connects through official broker APIs, ensuring secure and regulated access to your account information and trading capabilities.

Terms of Service

By connecting your brokerage account, you agree to Tiblio's Terms of Service. Review these terms to understand how your data is used and protected.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

Common Issues and Solutions

Authorization Failed: Ensure you're using the correct login credentials for your brokerage account. Some brokers have separate credentials for API access.
